Sarah Herres, DVMEmergency Medicine Veterinarian
Dr. Herres attended the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ames, IA, where she earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Following earning her veterinary degree, she worked at a large emergency and critical care practice in Phoenix, AZ.
In 2002 Dr. Herres moved to Idaho Falls, which at the time did not have an emergency practice in the area, so she began learning small animal daytime practice. She found she missed the unique challenges of emergency medicine and felt this was an unmet need for community pets. In 2007, along with several area veterinarians, Dr. Herres established Idaho Falls Veterinary Emergency Practice, now WestVet Idaho Falls. In 2010, she became the director and continued working tirelessly to expand the services and quality of care available for those needing emergency care. In 2019, she passed the management reins to Dr. Bailey and continues to work as an associate.
When not in the ER, Dr. Herres is an active member of the community, especially in her children’s schools. She also enjoys the outdoors and never misses an opportunity to explore trails with her family and their dog.
